This project was the result of the hard work of many, extending from the organization of the Kadokawa Summer Programs to the creation of this website. The editors firstmost would like to thank all our authors for contributing essays. Although we had hoped to publish these essays as a printed volume for use in the classroom, the current state of single-blind academic publishing conspired to delay its completion. Perhaps the current multimedia-rich and open-access format of this website was in the end a better alternative to an exorbitant academic tome priced out of the reach of most students.
We would also like to thank the Kadokawa Culture Promotion Foundation for its generous support in making possible the Kadokawa Summer Programs at the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies, University of Tokyo. We also want to express our appreciation to The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) for providing funding for the translation of several keyword essays. Finally, the University of Tokyo’s International Publishing Initiative provided much-needed support for the copyediting and assistance leading to the establishment of this website.
